1. Climate Targets and Energy

SCANDIC CARS pursues an ambitious climate target: operational emissions (Scope 1 and 2) are to reach net-zero by 2027; for Scope 3 emissions, a reduction pathway will be defined for 2030/2035. Our high-performance data centers are to be operated around the clock with carbon-free energy (“24/7 Carbon-Free Energy”) and achieve an energy efficiency of PUE ≤ 1.25. Measures to avoid and reduce take precedence over offsetting.

2. Data Protection and Information Security

We rely on privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default. Data protection impact assessments, encryption, zero-trust architectures, and ISO-27001-oriented processes ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data. Employees receive training on data protection and information security; security incidents are promptly investigated and reported.

3. Supply Chain and Human Rights

Our supply chains are subject to strict due diligence obligations. We implement risk management systems, supplier codes of conduct, audits, and remediation measures. Complaint channels are available to employees, suppliers, and external stakeholders. We do not tolerate forced or child labor and promote fair working conditions.

4. AI Ethics and Media Ethics

Artificial intelligence is used in our services for personalized recommendations, fraud detection, and process optimization. Our AI ethics principles emphasize human oversight, transparency, fairness, non-discrimination, and societal benefit. In the media sector, SCANDIC GROUP is committed to editorial independence, anti-disinformation, advertising transparency, and accessibility.

5. Governance and Compliance

Sustainability is part of our corporate governance structure. An ESG committee monitors targets, measures, and metrics. We report regularly in accordance with international standards (e.g., GRI, TCFD/IFRS-S2) and coordinate with stakeholders. Integrity, transparency, and responsibility form the basis of our actions.

6. Environment and Climate in the Data Center

Our data center ecosystem in Manama (Bahrain) is operated with state-of-the-art technology. The goal is a power usage effectiveness (PUE) ≤ 1.25 and the use of renewable energies. We plan improvements in cooling, energy efficiency, and waste-heat utilization. Electric rental car fleets are preferred; we are working on solutions for vehicle-to-grid integration and sustainable charging infrastructure.

7. Employees and Work Culture

SCANDIC CARS relies on an inclusive, diverse, and safe working environment. We promote equal opportunities, offer flexible working models, and invest in training and development. Healthy working conditions and employee well-being are a priority; discrimination, harassment, and exploitation are not tolerated.

8. Stakeholder Dialogue and Societal Contribution

We maintain an open dialogue with customers, partners, authorities, and the public. Our societal contribution includes the promotion of sustainable mobility solutions, support for local initiatives, and commitment to environmental and climate protection. Feedback from stakeholders is incorporated into the further development of our sustainability strategy.
